WHO
SHOULD ATTEND: Hospital and healthcare emergency
preparedness staff, healthcare coalition members, and staff responsible for
regulatory compliance
OVERVIEW: This
one-day course is designed to prepare individuals for the comprehensive
examination leading to certification as a Certified Healthcare Emergency
Professional (CHEP). The course includes a review of test taking strategies,
several sample problems, and quizzes. The course covers the six areas of the
exam: 1) Joint Commission & Healthcare Emergency Management; 2) National Preparedness; 3) Disasters; 4) Medical Services Preparedness; 5) Review of Safety; and 6) Terrorism.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
- Provide attendees with comprehensive and contemporary information;
- Review general safety and emergency management knowledge;
- Practice completing mock quizzes;
- Review test-taking strategy, and test format;
- Discuss the application of appropriate concepts and management practices with a focus on healthcare emergency situations; and
- Prepare individuals desiring to take the CHEP examination.

MEET
YOUR FACULTY:
Christopher
Riccardi, CHSP, CHEP, CHCM-SEC, has more than 15 years of healthcare industry experience
relating to leadership practices and emergency management. Riccardi is a
subject-matter expert with ASPR TRACIE. He is the visionary
behind the 15 ‘till 50 project, a nationally recognized best practice in
healthcare mass casualty, incident response planning. He has served as chair
for the California Hospital Association’s Emergency Management Advisory
Committee and represented hospitals as a member of the Los Angeles County
Disaster Coalition Advisory Committee.
Ryland Thompson, Ed. D, M. Ed, ARM-P,
CHEP, CHSP, CSP, has more
than 40 years’ experience in the field of occupational health and safety
assisting large and small employers improve their health and safety outcomes. Thompson
has provided program development and workers compensation cost containment
strategies to leading healthcare providers in both the skilled nursing and
acute care industry. He was the public sector
representative on the Local Emergency Planning Committee for Miami, Florida, and
was one of the first authorized providers of the CHEP preparation exam by the International
Board for Certification Services and Management and as such has successfully
taught hundreds of students to obtain this valuable credential.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Nursing: Up to 6.50 contact
hours will be awarded for this offering by the Louisiana Hospital Association
for complete attendance and evaluation of the program and webinars. The LHA is
approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing – CE Provider #39.
Other Participants will receive, upon completion of the
workshop and evaluation, a certificate documenting the completed continuing
education/clock hours.
